Hands give away age when the skin on the back of them thins, crepes and shows the tendons and veins beneath, and the backs of the hands are on our own list of Exilis areas. In our practice they are treated with the small handpiece at a low setting over the thin skin, both hands in one short session; no published series names the hands, and we say so. Usually four weekly sessions, with warmth that builds and is adjusted with you, and no downtime. Every treatment is given by Dr Marie Duggan, GMC 7488383, at Exilis London, 130 Harley Street, London, W1G 7JU, with the price in writing at a free consultation.
What it does on the hands
Exilis warms the layer under the thin skin on the back of the hand to the temperature at which collagen contracts and new collagen is laid down over the following weeks, with the aim of tightening the crepey texture. It does not replace lost volume, which a filler does, and it does not fade age spots, which are pigmentation; the doctor says so where another route is better.
What the studies measured
None measured the hands, and we say so; the mechanism is the one measured on the face and the body, set out on the face page and the full guide.
The session and after
In our practice the skin is cleaned and a thin layer of gel applied, and a return pad is placed on your skin. The small handpiece is moved over the back of each hand while the warmth builds, with the knuckles and tendons treated lightly. Pink, warm skin afterwards that settles over hours, and you go straight back to your day, with sunscreen on the hands. Usually four weekly sessions, then the review one to three months after the last, where we photograph in our practice.
Who it suits
In our practice, an adult with thinning, crepey skin on the backs of the hands who wants them to match a treated face, with a comfortable course and nothing through the skin. Not with a pacemaker or other internal electronic device, metal implants in the hand, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or an active skin infection. The decolletage page covers the chest, often treated in the same course, and the full guide the rest.
