The measured answer is short, because the studies are: they read their results one to three months after the last session, and nothing published measures beyond that. In our experience the firming holds as long as your weight and your skin's ageing allow, and a maintenance session is a choice some people make at the review rather than a schedule. Every treatment is given by Dr Marie Duggan, GMC 7488383, at Exilis London, 130 Harley Street, London, W1G 7JU, after a free consultation.
The timeline
- Each session: warmth that builds for about 30 minutes per area; pink, warm skin afterwards that settles over hours, and any tenderness within a day.
- Week by week: usually four weekly sessions; the collagen that contracted under the heat is joined by new collagen over the following weeks, and the measurement falls gradually over the course.
- One to three months after the last session: the point at which the published studies read their results, and the review we measure and photograph in our practice.
- Beyond three months: no published measurement.
What the studies say about duration
The evidence is small series, and no sham-controlled Exilis trial exists. The 64-person series with a combined radiofrequency and ultrasound device measured a month after the fourth session, the 34-person study of the same kind of device at three months, and the 30-person Exilis face study at four weeks. None followed patients further, so any figure in years is a guess, and we do not make one.
Holding the result
In our experience the measurement holds while your weight is steady, and the skin's firmness fades with the skin's own ageing rather than on a date. In our practice some people choose a maintenance session after the review, and the doctor says plainly whether it would add anything. The sessions page sets out the course, and the full guide covers the rest. The price is in writing at a free consultation, with a price match on any comparable written quote.
